Pushead

Here is Thrasher's September 1987 issue, with the fresh artwork by Pushead, who has made quite a name for himself through the years, most noteably designing cover art designs for groups like metallica and Dr. Octagon to name a few.

Pushead worked as an artist and writer for Thrasher during the late 80's and early 90's, and had his own section in the magazine entitled the 'Pus Zone' where he would discuss music and make social commentary.

The skulls and shit were not so much my taste back then as I associated them with metal and metal heads and so forth, a scene which I wasn't much into, but over the years Pushead's work has grown on me. He's stayed consistent with the way he does his art, and you can always tell when a work is his. He recently designed a pair of Nike SB's which are really flavor. Read More......

SK8 - TV

Here's one of the better SK8 - TV's (for me anyway) featuring Bod Boyle, Eric Dressen, Eric Sanderson, and Andy Howell. This ep also features Jeremy Klein, who like Ron Chatman, was a rider for one of my favorite companies back then, SMA World Industries. Andy Howell was instrumental in creation of another really good skateboard company called the New Deal, designing most of the logos and skateboard graphics. Check the start of the 2nd part of this episode. One of my favorite parts of the Sk8-Tv's were the workshops with Lance Mountain.

SK8 - TV

Here is the fourth installment of Sk8 TV here on twanked and danked, with 3 more to go. If anyone out there has any episodes that aren't posted here, or knows where to find some elsewhere online or wherever please drop a line. You could even send me VHS copies that I can in turn put onto AVI or DVD format for u. These fuckers should be re-airing them or releasing them on a DVD, but instead what fo they do? They sit on them, and block you from posting them on youtube. Well for the time being we have circumvented this dilema, so while they are available to watch, enjoy...

Okay so who do we have on this one? I think this might be one of the earliest ones to air. They don't have any sort of episode guide available anywhere, and I'm not sure how many episodes were even aired, 12? Anyway, you got an interview with Joe Skateboard Tony Hawk, Colin McKay, Lance Mountain

SK8 - TV

Sk8 TV for you only here on T&D. Soloman Agah, Tommy Guerrero, Eric Nash, and Lance Mountain are featured. This is probably shortly before Tommy Guerrero and Jim Theubaud and those guys started riding for Real Skateboards. Lance Mountain does some funny stuff in this one, dressing up in different costumes, playing different characters.

SK8 - TV

If you were skating in 1990, you may remember the short lived skateboarding show on Nickelodeon called Sk8-TV. This was actor Matthew Lillard's first appearance on TV/film, and even then he was annoying. I guess he's best known as one of the dudes from the movie Scream. At the time SK8-TV was the only show on TV about skateboarding, this is before skateboarding was actually considered a sport with X-games and ESPN recognition. I certainly thought it was worth a second season but I guess the ratings weren't as great as 'double dare'. It was the perfect time for a skateboarding show, this is when street skateboarding was really taking off, all the new, smaller, companies were opening up, and tricks were starting to get real crazy...

Now if you post these SK8 - TV episodes on youtube they get ganked immediately, let's hope my blog here won't get shut down as a result of me posting. I have about 7 full episodes of the show out of the maybe 12 that were made? I'm going to try and get all of them up. This one here features Ed Templeton, Joe Johnson, Dave Duncan, Mario Rublacava, and Tom Knox.
